Join Us for a Geology Walkabout in January!
Get ready to explore the incredible geology of the Amargosa Basin! After a brief introduction to geological principles, we’ll head to the famous “black stripe” roadcut to uncover the story behind these unique rock formations.
When: Sunday, January 12th at 2 PM
Where: Meet at the Shoshone Museum

What to Expect:
• A short intro to the geology of the area
• On-site discussion about the rock origins and the striking “black stripe”
• Handouts to deepen your understanding
• Take the short drive on SR 178 and park in the turnout opposite the black stripe.
We’ll return to Shoshone by 4:30 PM. Don’t miss this chance to experience the fascinating landscapes of the Amargosa Basin.
