For decades tribal leaders have walked in the footprints of their ancestors, advocating for their ancestral homelands near what is now Grand Canyon National Park.⁠

One year ago, the president listened to Grand Canyon tribes and designated Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument!

Thanks to their hard work, the monument now protects nearly 1 million acres of cultural sites, wildlife habitat, natural landmarks, and precious water sources that flow into the Colorado River. This new collection of videos, photos, and stories highlights the newly protected lands.

For 50 years, this area has been a fortress of conservation, a global beacon of biodiversity, and a destination where nature and the economy bloom together.

✨ More than land, Ash Meadows is the soul of the Timbisha Shoshone, Pahrump Paiute, Moapa Paiute, and Chemehuevi Tribes. Let’s honor their heritage by protecting this cherished resource.
