This year’s theme is “Water is Life”, highlighting the importance of water in sustaining local ecology in one of the driest places in North America, as well as its crucial role in our daily lives.
SATURDAY MARCH 29TH
The day will begin with a mid-morning tour, led by scientist and volunteer board member Janet Foley, of marshes in Shoshone and Tecopa. Attendees will see current restoration efforts, learn about the Amargosa Vole and its habitat, and experience the beauty and majesty of these small oases fed by ancient warm waters in the middle of the desert.
The day will continue into the early afternoon with festivities at the Tecopa community center, highlighted by educational talks from Deana Clifford with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife! But wait, there’s more! Fun tables with interactive activities and snacks/refreshments will be included. All are welcome to our local community hub.
Then evening will come, and bring with it the prospects of delicious, locally-brewed craft beer at Death Valley Brewing to go along with Amargosa Basin trivia – with prizes for winners! Come join us as the sun sets on another beautiful day in the Amargosa, with all the good times and good drinks to match.
Join us for a day of science, storytelling, and celebration of the resilient Amargosa Vole! Who’s excited?!
