🙏☺️ A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended Len Warren's bird walk and talk this past Sunday.

🏕We walked along the Blue Trail behind the Crowbar (🗺 map of all Shoshone trails out front and by the charging station/SHEAR!), moving over to the Springbrook and "Pupfish Ponds".

🐦 Sightings of both migratory and year-round birds were had! Len also discussed the value of local habitat and ongoing restoration efforts in the Amargosa Basin.

This is a friendly reminder to join us for a morning bird walk and afternoon presentation tomorrow!

A recap of all the necessary details is below:

🌸✨ Join Len Warren, the "Bird Man of the Amargosa," for a morning bird walk at 8 AM through wetlands along the Blue Trail in Shoshone (directly behind the Crowbar). We will meet in front of the Shoshone Museum (118 CA-127, Shoshone, CA 92384).

Expect to see year-round residents, wintering birds, and early spring migrants—April can be full of surprises if the wind cooperates!

Then, at 1 PM, head back to the Shoshone Museum for Len’s talk and slideshow: “Birds that Winter Along the Amargosa River.”

📍 Bird Walk: 8 AM | Blue Trail in Shoshone (Meet in front of the Shoshone Museum)

📍 Talk & Slideshow: 1 PM | Shoshone Museum

Don’t forget your binoculars, a hat, sunscreen, water, and sturdy closed-toed shoes or hiking boots!

Have you ever experienced what it's like to be among the high peaks of a desert mountain range? ⛰️ 🏜

These "sky islands", isolated from each other by a sea of lower desert valleys, harbor unique environments, sights and sounds, and places to explore safely and responsibly. Unique habitats, species of flora and fauna, geology, and more are present in some ranges and nowhere else.🌄🗻

Viva la Vole! We're still buzzing from this past Saturday at Vole Fest 2025, and thought we'd share some of the highlights.
.
We sure enjoyed seeing everyone who attended this year's celebration, and if you missed it, be sure not to next time!
.
The day was jam packed with awesome activities, with Janet Foley leading a morning tour of the Shoshone and Tecopa wetlands, Deana Clifford giving an expert talk to compliment interactive tables and delicious food at the Tecopa Community center in the afternoon, and evening Amargosa Basin trivia at @deathvalleybrewing
.
We also raffled off some impressive prizes, including custom stamped t shirts and hats by @limestone_prints, handmade jewelry, custom FAB gear, and grand prizes from Patagonia and REI!
.
Vole Fest 2025 was a wonderful day of celebration and learning in the beautiful Amargosa Basin!
.
Thank you to everyone who joined our 2nd annual rendition.Attendance this year more than doubled from last year, and we were pleasantly overwhelmed at this showing of interest.
.
